Last year, we held our first guitar recital in quite a while, featuring myself, our vice president Leong Yee Hoo, and guest artist Shabyl Ajmal. It turned out to be a great success, and it really encouraged us to keep going and continue building up the local guitar community.
Tonight’s recital is the first event in our 2025 concert series, and we’re excited to keep highlighting the talent we have right here at home. Performing this evening are Mr. Chuah Ken Ny and Mr. Desmond Lim Dao Wei—both amazing classical guitarists with competition wins under their belts. Chuah Ken Ny won first place at the Tarrega Malaysia Guitar Competition back in 2015, and Desmond Lim recently won the Open Category at the Malaysia Guitar Festival in 2023.
Both of them are very active in our community, dedicating their time to teaching and promoting classical guitar. We’re really proud to be working with them, and we know you’re going to enjoy their music tonight.
Lastly, we extend our sincere gratitude to all who have supported the society over the years. It means a lot to us to see you here, and we hope you enjoy an inspiring and memorable evening of guitar music.

The society has been very active this year, with several events leading up to today. We held two Open Stage events in February and September, our first concert of the year in April, a guitar ensemble course in June, and our annual Guitar Alive concert in August.
Today’s concert marks our final event of 2025, featuring two talented local guitarists who will grace the stage tonight.
Mr. Lee Kuan Lim is a versatile performer involved in solo, ensemble, and flamenco performances. He is also a guitar maker and will be performing tonight on one of his own instruments.
Mr. Kuah Ming Wei completed his Master’s in Classical Guitar Music Pedagogy in Switzerland in 2024. Before that, he won awards in local competitions and received the ATCL Performance Diploma with distinction. He now runs his own guitar academy in Klang and actively promotes classical guitar.
Both of these gentlemen have supported our society in many ways throughout this year. We hope you enjoy their performances tonight and continue to support our society in 2026.
