Day 2

13 December 2008 – Day 2
Guitarobics, nothing like having a little work out to start the day. One group gets their fingers worked out while the other group give the body a working on. Simon informed us that Isabelle does belly dancing and all of us had to learn belly dancing …phew!, luckily that did not happen as I am hopeless at dancing.

After taking the group photo, the masterclass for the beginners to intermediate group is now taken by Simon

In this masterclass, Simon opted to do the masterclass away from the normal (whereby some students were chosen to play within the short time allotted and comments given by the master), he decided to have each and every student play for each other so that everyone else will give their comments with Simon being the moderator. Unfortunately, just to have everyone play took most of the time leaving very little time for comments. But still, there was some feedback of the excitement to have to play without notice. Some complained though. As I asked Simon about the complain, he mentioned that it was the students own teacher who will have to explain about the merits of such an exercise – one being, a person should always be prepared to play in any situation, a necessary part of the performing arts (one need not be a professional to do this, even a beginner should be able to play at any time as long as one is enjoying making music)

This year the committee in its efforts to make the camp more interesting introduced a new feature in the programme – Guitar Star (alla Americas got Talent). It isn’t really intended to be a real competition but one of fun and learning with the judges comments and scores tabulated with the non-Guitar Star participating campers giving their votes.
