A word from the President

'Guitar Alive... is Alive 08' is an extension of Guitar Alive. The success of Guitar Alive got me thinking about how to bring together other teachers and students to share in this fantastic event. Although there was some skepticism and lack of cooperation from those whom we had approached, I hope that in time to come our good intentions will be realised. Nevertheless, it is a pleasure for the Society to plan and organise this event, an event that makes us proud and at the same time very happy.  It is gratifying to see the enthusiasm and effort that the teachers have put in, together with  the students' cooperation and their enthusiasm.

Guitar Alive...is Alive is a student ensemble concert. The Society encourages  students of any age as well as at any learning level to take part - young or old; beginner or advanced.

Performance is an integral part of learning the classical guitar. In this concert, we will be giving the students an opportunity to experience this exhilarating feeling of performing in front of an audience.

I would like to thank the students for their admirable effort and all of you who are here for this concert, making it a success.  The teachers and organizing committee would like to record their heartfelt thanks to the music schools* for the use of their school premises for the practice sessions.
