1st Guitar Alive 2006
Written by Simon Cheong

'Guitar Alive' came alive at MTC's Amphitheatre on 13 August 2006. There were 60 students participating in this concert and the excitement generated was exhilarating. Although they were really nervous, they pulled through marvelously. As I have always said, the only way to learn performing... is to perform!. In this concert, we brought together a group of guitar teachers who prepared their students from all over the Klang Valley for this concert. The various music shops/schools was generous to provide the space for practice for these student in their preparation. A great effort was put in by everyone and I would like to say my appreciation here to the organizing committee chaired by Eric Eng, the teachers themselves who are also in the organizing committee - Lee Thiam Foo, Tan Chee Kian, Ng Kean Heng, Jovy Fong, Lee Ji Xuan, Ernest Thomas and See Sew Hong. I would like to personally thank the music shops/schools  for their support - Sonata Music; Yamaha Music (Kelana Jaya); Maestro Music; Setapak Music Centre; Wiener Music Academy Centre; Yogaero Art, Music &  Dance; Nakuho Music; Sri Irama (M) Sdn.Bhd.

Here are some photos :-

The first photo shows Malaysia's Tourism Centre and the second, our national flag flying with a wonderful view of our KL Tower in the background. Behind MTC is this spectacular view of the Twin Towers. With such beauty surrounding the MTC what more can we say except 'Thank you' for allowing us to hold the society's activity here. Well, you can now see the committee hard at work sorting out last minute stuff in preparation for 'Guitar Alive'.

The interval saw our promotional booth busy with some members of our audience signing up for our premier event of the year - Guitar Camp 2006. Well, as of the interval, we have over 30 participants signed up for Guitar Camp 06 that will be held at Fraser's Hill on 24-26 November. That is great news as we are not even officially open for registration. So those of you who are interested in joining our camp, please sign up by getting the registration form from this website or contact any of the committee members when registration opens. The last photo above shows three lovely ladies - obviously so, since the lady in the centre is my wife!
