A word from the President

Welcome to this concert entitled ‘Guitar Alive' .

For the first time, the Society is organizing a public concert for students. It is indeed the Society's aim to promote and develop interest in the learning and playing of the classical guitar. We aspire to create an atmosphere that is filled with enthusiasm and liveliness which in turn will be imbedded in and become a part of the students' learning of the classical guitar. Performance is an integral part of learning the classical guitar. In this concert, we will be giving the students an opportunity to experience this exhilarating feeling (the flow of adrenalin… the quivering of nerves…) of performing in front of an audience.

This brings us to you, the audience. You will be taking part in a very special event in which you will witness young people braving themselves and giving their best in their performance, some of whom are doing it for the very first time. Urging them on and encouraging them with your applause may one day produce that special performer who would go on to become a world personality!

I would like to thank the students for their admirable efforts and all of you who have come here for this concert, making it a success. Not forgetting the teachers who have gone the extra mile to prepare their students, and all those involved in organizing this concert. The teachers and organizing committee would like to record their heartfelt thanks to the music schools* for the use of their school premises for the practice sessions.

Finally, my special thanks to MTC for the use of this Amphitheatre.
